Climbing Kilimanjaro

Climbing Kilimanjaro offers a physically and mentally challenging experience, leading you through diverse ecosystems to the highest peak in Africa, promising a sense of accomplishment and breathtaking views. It has been on our bucket list for a while now but not on our round the world trip bucket list because I'm too scared not to be fit enough to finish it (Oops). Tanzania is at the end of our journey so my secret hope is that I'll be fit enough by then to attempt the hike, wish me luck!

Maroussia's Top Bucket List Experience: Swimming with manta rays

Swimming with manta rays is simply a magical underwater adventure. These giant creatures glide gracefully through the ocean and look like they come from another planet. I've always had a fascination for dolphins and manta rays since the youngest age so this is very high up my bucket list. I am convinced that long time traveling will give me a unique opportunity to interact with these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Apparently, the best spots are in Mexico, Hawaii, Indonesia and the Maldives. We do go to Indonesia but I just don't know where exactly and when we would do this.

Travelling through the Amazon forest by canoe

Exploring the Amazon forest by canoe immerses you in the heart of the world's largest rainforest. You'll witness incredible wildlife, lush vegetation, and the vibrant culture of local communities. It's a serene and adventurous way to experience one of the planet's most biodiverse regions. Even though I am a literal chicken when I see a snake or any other creature that looks like they can eventually want to have me for dinner I am very much drawn to the peacefulness this remote and preserved region can offer.

Encountering with a Komodo dragon

Meeting a Komodo dragon feels somehow like stepping into a prehistoric world. These fascinating creatures, native to Indonesia, are the largest lizards on Earth. Seeing them in their natural habitat is a thrilling and unique experience that we are very much planning on having later this year when our itinerary takes us to Indonesia, stay tuned!

Cyrill's Top Bucket List Experience: Spending the night under polar lights

Spending the night under the polar lights is to us a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle of nature's beauty. The dancing auroras paint the sky with vibrant colors, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. It's a breathtaking experience that captures the beauty and mystery of our planet.

Taking the wine route in Argentina

The wine route in Argentina offers an unforgettable journey through picturesque vineyards and charming wineries. Imagine this, you can savor world-renowned wines while enjoying stunning landscapes, and learning about the rich history of winemaking. We planned this amazing experience as part of our Argentina stop, I guess the most difficult part will be not to be over budget wanting to visit every wine estate and try every single wine. We will keep you posted on that one!

Spending the night in a Buddhist temple

Spending the night in a Buddhist temple provides a serene and spiritual retreat. You'll experience the slow paced lifestyle of monks, participate in meditation sessions, and gain insight into ancient traditions or even martial art. It's a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life that we will experience in Korea very soon, we are really looking forward to discovering the 'Buddhist Monk way of life'. We will post a full article about our experience on this blog.

Seeing lava coming out of a volcano in Guatemala

Watching lava flow from a volcano in Guatemala sounds like a mesmerizing and rare sight. The glowing lava and the power of the volcano create a dramatic and unforgettable scene. It's an up-close encounter with the raw forces of nature. Even though Guatemala is not on our itinerary (for now), the idea of being able to witness such a majestic event is very tempting. If we do not have the chance to pass by this time we will definitely organize another trip later on to experience this bucket list item.

Attending a cricket game in India

We are not the most sportsy people out there but there is a certain something when it comes to live sports events that I like very much. Attending a cricket game in India sounds like a vibrant and lively experience. The energy of the crowd, the skill of the players, and the excitement of the game combined create an electric atmosphere. On top of all that, as tourists, I believe that it is a valuable cultural experience that showcases India's traditions and passion for cricket.

Embarking on a hot air balloon flight

A hot air balloon flight offers a serene and scenic adventure. Floating high above the ground, you'll enjoy panoramic views of the landscape below. This bucket list experience is a peaceful and exhilarating way to see the world from a new perspective with unparalleled views and a unique sense of freedom. We had the chance to go to Capadocia, Türkiye before the pandemic hit and were booked for a hot air balloon ride but unfortunately flights were cancelled 2 days in a row due to strong winds. We had the chance to observe the impressive wave of balloons take off on the morning of our departure which was also a very impressive experience. I am still very much planning on having this experience once, the question is where? If you have any recommendations, send us a DM on our Instagram @we_are_lostintransation.
